Former NIU running back signs with CFL team

Former Northern Illinois running back Garrett Wolfe has signed with the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Allouettes, according to the team’s website.

The Chicago native played four seasons in the NFL, all with the Bears, rushing for 282 yards and one touchdown on 72 carries from 2007-10.

Wolfe is NIU’s all-time leading rusher, having ran for 5,164 yards from 2004-06. As a senior in 2006, Wolfe ran for 1,928 yards on 309 attempts, which ranks second all-time at NIU behind LeShon Johnson.
